HOUSTON  TEXAS

 

Houston is the fourth-largest city in the United States and the largest city in the state of Texas. As of the 2009 U.S. Census estimate, the city had a population of 2.2 million within an area of 600 square miles (1,600 km2). Houston is the seat of Harris County and the economic center of the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area—the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. with a population of 5.9 million.


 

Current Houston Commercial Projects

 

Research Park Complex: The New Dental Branch Replacement Building is the latest addition to the already 485,000 sq ft phasted UT Health Science Center Research Park Complex. The project includes a 296,500 sq ft dental school replacement building and a 2000 sq ft cental plant expansion. Construction started in December 2009 and is expected to be completed in April 2012.

Harris County 1910 Courthouse History Restoration: The restoration of the Harris County Courthouse will bring the building back to its original condition. Efforts to accomplish this goal include replacement of historically inaccurate metal windows with original wood material, as well as restoration of exterior detailing.

Project cost: $55,000,000

 

Texas A&M Memorial Student Center - University Center Complex: This comprehensive facility master plan for the Texas A&M University Memorial Student Center includes development of the street into a pedestrian zone and dedicating large open spaces within the reconfigured complex to student programs, student activities, study lounges, computer lounges, retail and a 24-hour student center. Project completion is dated for March 2012.

Project cost: $85,000,000


St. Luke's Hospital at the Vintage: A new 227,000 sq ft, 4-story medical center broke ground in May of 2009 and is to be completed in February 2011. The facility includes 90 beds and 5 operating rooms, 14 labor and delivery rooms. The hospital will serve the needs of Houstonians in the growing area.

HOUSTON — (July 20, 2010)Closings of properties purchased through the federal homebuyer tax credit combined with the seasonal spring-summer uptick in consumer activity kept Houston-area single-family home sales in positive territory for a fourth straight month in June. However, expiration of the homebuyer tax credit slowed the brisk pace of sales volume that the market enjoyed in recent months.
